First Things First
The bistro set arrived fast. It was a good thing because I wanted it for a party I was having for my husband’s birthday. With only two seats, I know it wouldn’t fit everyone. What I wanted it mostly for is the ice bucket. The entire set looks lovely too.
I want to warn you ahead of time that unpacking everything out of the box would take a while. Each piece is meticulously wrapped in bubble wrap. They are then attached to foam inserts and taped to the inside of the box. The manufacturer surely didn’t want any part to be damaged. While it was time-consuming, the unboxing process wasn’t something I mind. I would rather have had a hard time unwrapping the pieces than have to return the whole box due to damage.
The box does come with tools that you need. I appreciate the gesture, but they are small and difficult to hold. If you have your own wrench and screwdriver, I strongly recommend you to use them instead.
Design
I am in love with the intricate details on the back of the chairs. They remind me of my late parents’ furniture. The grid design of the table looks elegant too. If you prefer classic over modern design, this metal bistro set is made for you. The copper color looks good as well. It looks even better when the sun hits the set.
Comfort
The chairs are comfortable to sit on but I don’t recommend sitting for hours. I doubt anyone would find sitting for long hours comfy. The armrests are a bit short, but I don’t mind that. The chairs’ open back and seat are perfect for warm days. I like to sit out when it’s too hot inside the house.
Function
The ice bucket is great at keeping your drinks cool. I like the convenience of cooling drinks right in front of us as we eat. I prefer my drinks ice-cold, so I make sure to cool the bottle in the refrigerator first. But of course, you can skip that and get the bottle straight into the bucket. It can fit bottles of wine and beer as well as cans of soda. It can hold a lot of ice too. You can put on the cover on the tabletop when you’re not using the bucket. This is so you can have more room on the table.
The metal frames are very sturdy. The chairs support our weight with no problem. This set is indeed made for outdoor use. I haven’t noticed any rusting on the table and chairs. You can leave it exposed to the elements and not worry about wear and damage. We have our set under a shade but it does get a bit of the sun and rain. It gets occasional use. Six months in, it has exceeded my expectations.
Although the set looks very expensive, it is priced reasonably. I didn’t want to spend a fortune for an outdoor bistro set, so I’m glad I came across this one!
