You may have to think twice when you’re getting a bookshelf online. You have no idea what it actually looks like and how good the construction is. There’s also that possibility that the measurements posted are all wrong. Lucky for you, I’m about to share with you my product review of Vasagle’s ladder shelf so you don’t have to do the guessing game.
First off, the assembly is simple. As expected from Vasagle, all pieces and hardware came with labels. Extra bolts were included too. You can put this together on your own but an extra hand would help. I had no trouble lining up the pieces.
Spacious and Beautiful Bookshelf
This elegant bookshelf features 4 open shelves. There’s no stopping you from putting on anything under the sun. If you plan on having books, I suggest getting bookends along with the shelf. They’re available in Amazon too. The bookends would keep the books upright and prevent them from falling from the open shelves.
Having an open shelf is excellent for displaying small indoor plants, pictures and other decorative pieces. It puts your books and other items front and center. It also gives an illusion of a larger shelf. This ladder shelf features a minimalist style. You’re sure to receive compliments from guests.
I don’t recommend putting fragile items on the shelves if you have kids at home. While the shelf is stable as long as it’s on a flat surface, things on the shelves may fall off if pushed around.
Each tier is wide and tall. Large books can fit on the bottom shelves. This ladder shelf is designed to fit in small spaces. It would work well in apartments and cramped office spaces. It offers plenty of storage without taking up a lot of floor space. Just have it against the wall and it won’t get in your way. Traditional bookshelves normally take up a lot of space in the room. They are bulky and sometimes can’t hold as much as you think. If you’re keen in getting a space-saving bookshelf then this is a good choice.
The shelves are not real wood but the look doesn’t give it away. Each shelf has a beautiful wood pattern that mimics real wood. It doesn’t look cheap. The pattern gives it an elegant distressed look.
Sturdy Ladder Shelf
The shelves have a good thickness to them. They won’t sag as long as you take note of the weight limit of 11lbs per shelf. They are not flimsy at all so they won’t snap under the weight of books.
The sleek metal frame stands solidly. You won’t see any wobbling. Just make sure that you have it on a completely even surface. If your floor is uneven then this would wobble no matter what. I wish it has adjustable leveling feet but for the price, that’s asking too much.
As with any storage shelf, it is best to put heavier items on the bottom shelves. Also, make sure to distribute the weight along the shelf. This way, the shelf is more stable. The X bars at the back give this ladder shelf additional support.
With the bookshelf’s versatile design, you can have it anywhere. It’s good to have in the living room, bedroom, entryway, and even your office. Its minimalist design makes it very easy to blend in with existing furniture. Vasagle sells matching pieces that would look beautiful with this bookshelf. There are side and coffee tables that are also sold in Amazon. They also feature beautiful wood tops with sleek steel frame. You can consider purchasing from the same set if you’re planning to replace your other furniture.
Overall, the construction of the shelf has far exceeded my expectations. For the price, the quality of the materials is great. Plenty of similar shelves are more expensive. This one gives excellent value for your money.
