After reviewing Zinus’ wonderful mattress frame. We decided to try out another popular Zinus bed, Upholstered Square Stitched Platform Bed with Wooden Slats. The bed exceeded our expectation so much that we felt the need to write a review for it.
Initially, we were a bit wary about our purchase because of how inexpensive it was. The other bed we were also considering trying out was one from Pottery Barn that cost around 800 before tax. We worried that the bed show up at our door would be something not even closed to what it was advertised on the website description. However, we were thrilled as soon as we opened the packaging.
To start off, all of the parts of the bed ship inside the headboard. You can open and close the fabric at the back zips. It is truly a genius move from a shipping perspective.
In terms of the build quality, the quality is definitely one of the highlights of the product. The quality of all the components is excellent. The headboard is as thick as what we see on the website picture. It really gives a premium feel in the room. Moreover, the two beams bearing most of the weight of the mattress are sturdy, black, metal.
In terms of assembly, most of the screws are already in place. All we had to do was to loosen them with the allen key and put the right pieces together, and tighten the screws. The entire process took my husband and I less than half an hour.
One thing that we didn’t quite like about this Zinus bed was the legs. The legs of the bed are black plastic. Don’t get us wrong. They do seem to be sturdy and nice looking. However, we initially thought they would be dark wood, judging from the pictures they provide. It is something to keep in mind if you’re not a fan of plastic furnitures like us.
Overall, a great bed from Zinus. We love the colour and design of the bed. It looks even better in person than in the pictures.
