First Impression
This couch from Stone & Beam has passed the test for me. It all started with the seamless delivery. Upon checkout, you would be asked to provide your preferred delivery time range (for instance, 10am to 12nn and so on). This arrived in a week. If you are an Amazon Prime member, you can get it even faster. You can have it shipped within 2 days for free. Members enjoy a lot more perks so if you’re not yet a member then it is worth considering.
This is an oversized couch so the very first challenge buyers would face is how to get it in their place. To save myself the stress, I asked the delivery guys to carry it into the living room. They gladly removed the packaging as well. The couch came in a plastic wrap. This kept it clean inside the box. This also protected the fabric from damage. There is no need to dust it off before using.
Right out of the box, the couch looks as big as I have expected. Since it’s large, it’s important that you take a measurement of your place before ordering. Take a look at the sofa’s dimensions too. You wouldn’t like to have barely enough space to move around in the living room, would you? If you are transitioning from a smaller sofa, planning beforehand would help. Knowing exactly how big your space is would allow you to think about the layout that you envision for the living room. You can move existing furniture or sell them to make space for the larger couch.
Comfort
The cushions look very full and plush. On the first week, the sofa would feel a little stiff. This shouldn’t alarm you as this is typical for down-filled couches. It would get softer over the next weeks with use. It is a medium-firm couch but then again, breaking it in would make it softer. I like that it starts out a little firm as it is more likely that it would keep its original shape longer than others. The cushions would easily lose their shape if they started out very soft. The sofa would last longer and keep it from looking like a lousy piece of furniture.
The oversized sofa has an impressive depth. You can sit back or curl your legs in. You can take a nap on it without worrying about falling over. 2 persons can lay down on it at a time, making the couch perfect for couples. If you have pets, there is more than enough space for your furry babies to sit with you. There is also plenty of space for throw pillows. This is a low-profile sofa, which makes it great for lounging.
The only issue I see in terms of comfort is that the armrests are stiff. They are not as soft as the rest of the sofa. That should not stop you from getting this cozy couch, though. Anyway, you can use a throw pillow to rest your arm with.
The fabric feels soft against the skin. It is not the smoothest material since it has some texture to it. However, the texture gives a pleasant sensation and won’t make your skin itch.
Quality
The hardwood frame of the couch makes me confident about its longevity. The couch has a stable base that supports the entire piece as opposed to other sofas’ thin legs. Legs are more prone to snapping.
The couch is upholstered with a stain-resistant fabric. Most stains come right off by wiping the affected area with a damp cloth. Spot-cleaning removes more stubborn stains. Liquids also bead on top of the fabric. It takes a few minutes for the fabric to absorb moisture so this gives you time to wipe it off.
The cushions come with removable covers. You can take off the covers and take them for a wash. This keeps the sofa look clean and good as new.
