Setup
The Zinus Contemporaty Upholstered Sofa is by far one of the easiest assembles I’ve had in years. My husband and I only took around 15 minutes to put it together. Although the assembly is very simple, an extra pair of hand would be great.
Under the couch is a secret compartment where all the parts were stored. You don’t need any tools to set it up.
Comfort
I want to be as honest as I can in this review. The sofa is a low-profile sofa. My husband is 6 foot tall, and he finds the back support of the couch a bit lacking. Tall people may find the back of the couch too short for them. However, my husband still finds it very comfortable. I stand 5’7, and I feel comfy sitting on it too.
The couch does need a little breaking in to become more comfortable. It is firm at first but the more you use it, the softer it gets. The cushions are not as plush as other sofas are. Adding in pillows would compensate for that. I occassionally find myself falling asleep in the sofa, and that’s a good sign. It is a good place to take a nap or curl up to read a book. Sitting on it for hours is not a good idea, though. The back cushions are plush enough for me.
The material feels like denim but it’s not as stiff. It actually feels great against my skin. It doesn’t feel hot too.
This upholstered sofa is perfect for small living areas. We are staying in a rented apartment and this couch is just the right size for it. I like that we have a regular sofa without having to struggle about having room to move around.
Design
I am in love with my sofa’s color. It is a bit on the neutral side but it stands out in the room. I also like the look of the slanted armrests. It gives the couch a modern twist. The back cushions have tufting details, which I think is a nice touch.
I also noticed that the material of the sofa is not easily stained. It spot-cleans rather well too. I haven’t had issues with spills. I put the fan right in front of the wet area, and it dries out very quickly.
The sofa is not as light as you would expect, but you can still push it across the room without breaking a sweat. That is particularly important for me. I don’t want to miss any spot in the house when cleaning. Getting to move the sofa allows me to mop the floor underneath it.
In My Opinion
Overall, I am happy about getting this sofa. For the price, you can’t go wrong. Who says you have to break the bank to buy a pretty couch? This isn’t as large and plush as regular sofas are. However, if you have a small living room, this is perfect for you. As always, Zinus has not failed to please me. We also have a bed platform from Zinus and I’m happy with it too.
