I got the Zinus Olivia bed frame for my teen daughter. She insisted that I get her a stylish frame. Being a meticulous mother that I am, I found it ridiculous to just look for a beautiful frame. I have to consider the overall quality and price, of course. This happens to check off everything that my daughter and I want for a bed frame. Know more about what I think in my review.
Setup
All parts came undamaged. There are no scratches, dents or discoloration. One person can manage the assembly, but an extra hand would be helpful. The wooden headboard is pretty heavy. You may need someone to carry the other end while you screw it onto the base. Aside from that, everything seems very simple. At least that’s what my husband said. He was the one who put the bed frame together because I can’t be trusted with tools.
I would also like to add that the supplied ratchet is small. You may want to use your own. Once completely set up, the platform bed looks sturdy and elegant.
Materials
This bed frame has a steel base and wooden headboard and slats. The base is as solid as it should be. The slats are thick enough and don’t look like they would snap apart. They can carry the weight of your mattress. Just for reference, my daughter uses a 10-inch bed.
My daughter has had no problem about her mattress sliding off the frame. It has stay put even if she tosses a lot at night. She hasn’t complained about any noise either. If you are a light sleeper, you’d love this bed frame.
Design
Style-wise, this bed frame hits it out of the park. It veers towards a minimalist style but it doesn’t look plain and boring. As a matter of fact, my daughter has gotten off a few compliments from her friends. They even asked me where I got the bed frame from.
The bed frame looks sleek thanks to the steel base. At the same time, it looks rustic because of the incorporation of the wood.
The clearance underneath the bed frame is around one foot. That isn’t a lot if you want to fit a big luggage. For my daughter, though, she finds the clearance spacious enough. She has many boxes under the bed. That’s where she keeps her clothes that she rarely wears as well as old books.
In My Opinion
I am not the one actually using the bed frame, but I can see how pleased my daughter is with it. I can clearly see why. It is beautifully made. Zinus definitely paid attention to the tiny details. The frame looks more expensive that it really is. I got it for a reasonable price, and I would be willing to spend more for something like this. Quality is great too. I’m sure it would take years before we have to look for a replacement. In any case, I’d choose among Zinus’ offerings. They have made a loyal customer in me!
