First Impression
The bed comes with the needed tools but for your fingers’ sake, I’d suggest you use your own tools. I appreciate the fact that the upholstered pieces are covered with a thin cloth for protection during shipping. The assembly takes 2 sets of hands. It took me and my husband a little under 2 hours to set it up. The directions are comprehensive with minimal steps. They are written in a way that someone who isn’t great with tools would understand.
We purchased this bed for our 16-year-old daughter. She wanted to get rid of her old box spring, so this bed platform came perfect. You won’t need a box spring with this. The wooden slats that the frame comes with provide support to the mattress. The slats run along the entire frame with only small spaces in between. They stay in place, so your mattress won’t move around.
This is a low profile bed, but I wasn’t surprised at all. I did notice that in the pictures. Although it sits a bit low, the height is reasonable.
Pros
The bed frame looks far more beautiful when you actually see it. The pictures don’t do it justice. My daughter loves that the entire bed frame is covered with gray fabric. There is no need to use a bed skirt anymore. The tufted buttons on the headboard and footboard make the bed look even more luxurious. The bed has a high-end look. It’s almost impossible to guess its price!
The slats don’t make any sound. My daughter pointed this out. Even if she moves a lot on her bed, she doesn’t hear anything creaking under the bed.
The platform bed is sturdy enough for two people to sleep on. The wooden slats are durable. We haven’t had any that has snapped. My daughter has been sleeping on it for 6 months now, which I have to admit isn’t long enough. Only time would tell if it would hold up far into the future. However, I would tell you that my 6-year-old son would jump on her bed without the bed collapsing under him. I think that says a lot about the bed’s durability. Nevertheless, I won’t recommend anyone to jump on this bed.
Cons
If the headboard was slightly taller, it would have made all the difference. My daughter is using an 11-inch mattress. With her pillows up against the headboard, you can barely see it anymore.
The headboard is soft but not plush either. You can lean your back on it without feeling any discomfort. A pillow on your back is, of course, much more comfortable.
Last Thoughts
Seeing how happy my daughter is with her bed makes it worth every penny. I don’t think I could have found a more beautiful bed at a cheaper price. The quality is impressive too. If you are thinking twice about getting this bed platform, think about this. By getting a longer-lasting bed frame, you save money in the long run.
